The Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE) oversees accreditation of nonpublic schools in the Commonwealth as authorized by the Virginia Board of Education. State recognized accreditation comes through accreditation granted by VCPE approved accrediting member, such as VAISEF.
VAISEF: About Accreditation
VAISEF is an acronym for the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities. Non-public schools or programs that are regulated by the Virginia Department of Education may be accredited by VAISEF only if they meet rigorous standards of excellence. VAISEF accredits schools and programs that provide specialized education and related services to special needs students.
State recognized accreditation is accountability for private schools in Virginia. It assures the public that the published purpose and philosophy of a private school are being fulfilled. It also guarantees the transfer of student credits from the state recognized accredited private school to a public school and ensures recognition of teacher licensure credits for time served in an accredited private school.
Liberty Point received a five year Certificate of Membership and Accreditation which was presented to our Director of Education, Mary-Margaret Daggy, on April 27, 2012 at the VAISEF Spring Conference. We will be proud to display our Certificate of Accreditation and display the VCPE logo on our website.
